1. Asian Night Markets

Whether it’s the Friday Night Street Food Market, the Laos Market, or the Hello Friend Night Market, the weekends are full of Asian night markets with better food than you’ll find at most restaurants. If you want to feel like you took a flight to Saigon for the night, head to one of these, and enjoy some of the best Asian food in St. Petersburg. (Most of these are held just outside St. Peterburg in Pinellas Park or Clearwater, but they are worth the drive.)

2. Turkish Mediterranean Cuisine

While, technically, Turkish Mediterranean Cuisine is in Largo, I still have to include it. I got to eat the best food in Istanbul last summer, and this restaurant has food just as good as it was in Turkey. If you want to be wowed by presentation, go with a group and order the large mixed grill. They have cold and warm appetizers, just like in Istanbul. The menu is large with so many choices at a great price point. Don’t skip the burnt top pudding for dessert. And the best part is this restaurant is BYOB with no corkage fee.

3. The Brisket Shoppe

The Brisket Shoppe

Ok, The Brisket Shoppe is in Tampa, but I still have to include it because it’s my favorite BBQ in all of Tampa Bay. They do have some weird hours and are only open Thursday-Saturday from 11-3:30, or I’d be there a lot more. But, every chance I do get, I go. Not only is the brisket the best brisket I’ve had, but so are the ribs. And, you will love the brisket Bon Bon that comes with your meal, which is basically a yeast roll filled with brisket. Also, don’t get me started on the fries cooked in beef tallow!! You also get unlimited sweet tea with your meal. If you haven’t been, you need to go.

4. Le Clementine Bakeshop

Cafe Clementine

Le Clementine Bakeshop just might be my favorite bakery that I’ve been to anywhere. Located in the Museum of Fine Arts in Downtown St Pete, this artisanal bakery will wow you with its creativity and artistry. Most of the ingredients are organic and produced locally. My only wish is that they had better coffee, as they currently only offer cold brew which could be improved. Oh, and my dearest wish is they they would offer the lavender matcha croissant again because it was the absolute best croissant I’ve every had. Other highlights have been the Earl Grey tea cruffin, and the gingerbread croissant. Everything else here is perfect. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and a great view.

5. Thai Market (Food Truck At The St. Pete Saturday Market)

Thai Market at St Pete Saturday Market

Some of my favorite authentic Thai food is found at the St. Pete Saturday Market at Thai Market. The menu selections rotate, but everything I’ve had has been amazing. Everything is made by a woman who grew up in Thailand and her husband. The pork noodle soup made me swoon. The green curry was also incredible. Get the fried egg on top!

Wrigley’s Pizza is my absolute favorite pizza in St Pete. They make thin crust Chicago pizza. My favorite is the house pizza with sausage, pepperoni, onion, green peppers, tomato, and garlic. You can also get buffalo chicken pizza, chicken ranch, Italian beef, and many other choices.

7. Dzo Pho-Sushi-Hibachi

Dzo Pho has incredible pho with a clean broth that comes in a hot stone bowl (brilliant!), so it stays hot the entire time you are eating it. I love that you can get a beef short rib as one of the toppings. They also have sushi, including a lobster roll, and hibachi which I have yet to try. The atmosphere is great with dim lighting, and the service is great.

El Maguey is a family owned Mexican restaurant that serves outstanding homemade Mexican food. They serve authentic food such as chili rellenos, posole, and goat birria. They also serve breakfast all day with items such as huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. Also, they own a Mexican tienda in the same shopping center that sells El Milagro corn tortillas which are incredible.

If you’re in St. Pete and love Indian food, you absolutely must try Naan Boti and Chai Shai. I prefer ordering off the menu rather than eating off the buffet. Some of my favorites are the chicken tikka, the chole, and the lamb vindaloo. And, you must try the naan bread. It’s some of the best that I’ve had. They have an extensive vegan and vegetarian menu as well. Everything is made from scratch, so know there may be a wait if they are busy, but it’s worth the wait!

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican, El Huarache Veloz is the place to go. They have barbacoa on the weekends, and my personal favorite is the carne asada huarache. It’s huge!! The pricing is great with big portions of everything you order. Service is fast and friendly. They also have house made horchata and many agua frescas.

11. Buoys Waterfront Bar And Grill

Buoys is one of those great Florida places where you can arrive by boat and dock it there. There are great views of the water and excellent food. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have incredible service. The whole yellowtail snapper is my favorite as well as the coconut cheesecake. Everything is made from scratch, and they serve some of the best seafood in the area.

12. Wild Child

If you’re wondering where to eat in St Petersburg that’s fun and creative with a nice atmosphere, then Wild Child is the spot to go to. The menu changes seasonally, and one of my favorite evenings was when I had the jerk octopus over a scallion crema and snapper a la plancha with a paella style rice that had Spanish chorizo and crab in it. It was so good. They also serve spectacular cocktails. Make a reservation, as this placer is popular.
