The Drift Inn: My Favorite Yachats Restaurant

The Drift Inn: My Favorite Yachats Restaurant

The Drift Inn is just the kind of restaurant you hope to find when visiting the Oregon Coast. It’s definitely my favorite Yachats restaurant, and the last time I visited, I made sure to get my fill and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there.

The Drift Inn: My Favorite Yachats RestaurantThe Drift Inn has a whimsical atmosphere with its umbrellas that hang from the ceiling (they are all for sale!). The interesting locals all seem to hold the same belief that I do about this Yachats restaurant. It really is the best. There’s also live music every night of the week. And, if you get a window booth, you will have a view of the ocean. It doesn’t get better than that.

The Food At The Drift Inn-Yachats Restaurant

Well, actually, it does. The Drift Inn makes their own bread which is to die for. And, you just can’t go wrong no matter what you order. I had the sausage biscuit with cheddar and scrambled eggs. The breakfast menu is extensive with scrambles, raspberry crepes, homemade cinnamon rolls, steak and eggs, and more options to choose from. It’s a great day to start the day before seeing some of the best sites on the Oregon coast.

After hiking the Florence sand dunes, come back for lunch. I had the Dungeness crab melt which was one of the best crab melts I’ve had, being that it’s served on the Drift Inn’s homemade bread. The side salad was incredibly fresh and came with their house-made dressing. The chowder served here is also some of the best on the Oregon Coast. My dining companion got the halibut fish and chips. It was good, but not as good as South Beach Fish Market in Newport.

Other offerings for lunch included crab salad, wild razor clams, King salmon, and chicken fried steak. They have such a variety of food, you are bound to find something you like.

The Drift Inn also has a good beer and cocktail selection. They made a great Manhattan which I tried that night when I went back for dinner. I also had the chicken pot pie which was the perfect comfort food after a day on the chilly beach. The only thing that I’m sad about is that I didn’t have time to go back and try one of their wood fired pizzas which looked spectacular and get rave reviews. I love that the entrees come with soup or salad, as most restaurants don’t offer that any more. But, it made me too full for dessert, which looked great as well.

The service at the Drift Inn is a little slow, but the serves are very friendly, so I’ll take that over speed any day. The Drift Inn is the kind of gathering place that makes you feel like you’ve gotten away from the rush of every day life. The kind of place that makes you feel like the person in the kitchen cares about what they put on your plate. The kind of place that makes you want to return again and again.
